Welcome to the Town of Camp Verde Building Safety Division of Community Development.  Building Safety is one of four major functional divisions which include Planning and Zoning, Economic Development and Code Enforcement.

Mission Statement

The Town of Camp Verde Building Safety Division’s mission is to provide the public with excellent customer service through our professionalism, dedication, and commitment to excellence. We are committed to providing our customers the most successful permitting experience possible before, during and after construction with expedient permit processing and inspection services.

Goals

The goal of the Building Safety Division is to effectively enforce the Town’s construction codes and related ordinances, which establish the minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare and includes providing permit and inspection services.  We are committed to continue the quality of service our department strives to provide by improving our knowledge, efficiency, organization and professionalism in order to meet the needs of the public, our customers.

Septic Systems & Ownership Records
The Town of Camp Verde does not issue septic permits, and therefore does not answer questions pertaining to these systems.  For this information please contact Yavapai County Environmental Services at (928) 639-8136, or visit the Yavapai County Website at www.co.yavapai.az.us.

The Town of Camp Verde does not maintain ownership records. For ownership of parcel, please contact Yavapai County Assessor’s Office at (928) 639-8121.

Building Codes

The Town of Camp Verde adopted and utilizes the following building codes and related public codes. Adopted codes effective as of September 20, 2009:

  • Drainage – 4 inches per hour
  • Frost Depth – 12 inches
  • Flood Hazards – Refer to Floodplain Unit of Yavapai County
  • Air Freezing Index – 194
  • Mean Annual Temp – 53°
  • Zone 2 - International Energy Conservation Code

Inspection Services

Construction or work for which a permit is required shall be subject to inspection by the Building Official or designated individual and such construction or work shall remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved. Neither the Building Official, designated individual nor the jurisdiction shall be liable for expense entailed in the removal or replacement of any material required to allow inspection.

It shall be the duty of the permit holder to provide an approved property address, including number and street name at all construction sites. Such temporary premises identification shall be clearly visible from the street or roadway fronting the property, shall be installed prior to the first inspection, and shall be maintained until the permanent premises identification is installed and approved.

Work requiring a permit shall not commence until the permit holder or an agent of the permit holder has posted or otherwise made available the inspection record card to allow the Building Official or authorized agent to conveniently make the required entries thereon regarding inspections of the work. The permit holder shall maintain the card available until final approval, by the Building Official, has been granted. Town Code Chapter 7, Article 7-2, Section 7-2-106 outlines required inspections, although additional inspections may be required at the discretion of the Building Official.

Applicants assume responsibility for requesting inspections to ensure permits do not expire, which includes providing at least 24-hours notice of such request to the Building Safety Division.

Inspection Requests

To request an inspection during business hours, call the Building Safety Division at (928) 567-8514 and after hours at (928) 567-8514 Ext. 120. Provide 24-hour notice to ensure inspection and provide the following information:

  • Permit Number
  • Owner Name
  • Project Address
  • Contractor Name/Phone Number
  • Type of Inspection
  • Preference to AM or PM Inspection

Contractor Information

Contractors are required to hold a valid contractor’s license issued by the State of Arizona Registrar of Contractors  and a valid BUSINESS LICENSE issued by the Town of Camp Verde. Important Information for permit applicants

  • Two working days prior to digging CALL BLUE STAKE at (800) 782-5348
  • Applicants assume all responsibility for complying with any deed restrictions (CC&R) that may apply to a subject property.
  • Applicants agree to build in accordance with all applicable codes and town ordinances, as well as any other applicable local, state and federal requirements.
  • Applicants assume responsibility for requesting inspections to ensure permits do not expire, which includes providing at least 24-hours notice of such request to the Building Safety Division.
  • Contractors are required to hold a valid contractor’s license issued by the State of Arizona Registrar of Contractors and a Business License issued by the Town of Camp Verde.
  • Permit applications submitted to the Building Safety Division become invalid after 180 days and deposits are non-refundable.
  • Construction authorized by a permit must commence within 180 days of its issuance or the permit shall be become invalid.
  • Construction authorized by a permit that is suspended or abandoned for 180 days shall cause such permit to become invalid.
  • Written requests for a one-time extension may be granted by the Building Official if the applicant can demonstrate justifiable cause. A fee will be charged in accordance with the currently adopted fee schedule.
  • No building or structure shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification shall be made until the Building Official has issued a Certificate of Occupancy.
  • Temporary Certificates of Occupancy will be issued at the discretion of the Building Official or designee and a fee will be charged in accordance with the currently adopted fee schedule.
  • In addition to grading/excavation permits, any construction activity that impacts land of one acre or more is required by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to submit for permit to discharge storm water generated during construction activities. In addition the Town of Camp Verde will require a Notice of Intent (NOI) and Authorization Number issued by ADEQ, prior to permit issuance. A Notice of Termination (NOT) will be required upon completion of the project. For additional information regarding Storm Water Pollution Prevention permitting please visit the ADEQ website.
