Camp Counselor Wanted – *NEW* 4-05-2018

The Town of Camp Verde Parks & Recreation is hiring staff for our new summer Day Camp and has an opening for a Camp Counselor. The selected applicant will be involved with development and reinvigoration of this program as it returns to Camp Verde. Candidates must have experience working with elementary school aged children, preferably in a school or other structured environment. Counselors must be a minimum of 16 years old. Position is full-time seasonal, Monday – Friday starting May 29 thru July 27. Counselor pay range from $10.50 – $12/hr DOQ.  Applications accepted until position is filled. First review begins April 23.                               

Lifeguards and Cashiers Wanted – NEW

The Town of Camp Verde Parks & Recreation is hiring summer staff for our Heritage Pool. Staff must be at least 15 years old and Lifeguards must be certified prior to the Pool opening. These positions are seasonal part-time with varied hours from the Pool opening May 26 through mid-September. The Pool operates seven days per week including holidays until early August and then limited hours through the end of the Pool season. Lifeguards earn $11 per hour and Cashiers $10.50 per hour. • Provides Public Safety Dispatch services for CVMO; keeps track of a wide variety of law enforcement and emergency services resources, personnel, incidents and trends; answers incoming emergency and non-emergency calls; interviews callers and gathers details; prioritizes calls for service and determines appropriate personnel to respond; dispatches emergency responders; relays pertinent information to law enforcement officers in a concise, organized and understandable manner; maintains records and logs.
• Provides detailed call information to officers as needed; maintains status and awareness of CVMO patrol unit locations and unit’s status; monitors message traffic and relays information to officers; follows all CVMO policies and procedures to assure that officer and public safety is the top priority; contacts other law enforcement and emergency services agencies for additional information and resources as needed, and relays information regarding incidents.
• Performs inquiries and criminal history checks for law enforcement personnel through Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS); enters emergency assistance calls into the dispatch incident logs; inputs information into the ACJIS computer system; enters data for warrants, records and reports; queries system databases as requested.
• Provides information, instructions and assistance to the public within scope of authority; assists and coordinates with other emergency services personnel and outside organizations.
• Maintains the absolute confidentiality of all records and information.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Town Marshal (Police Chief)

About the Department:

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office (Police Department) is a full service law enforcement agency staffed by very dedicated law enforcement professionals.  Our employees are committed to the reduction in crime, protection of life and property to a population of just under 12,000 citizens, as well as protecting the constitutional rights of all persons within our jurisdiction.

Our department is comprised of three divisions: Operations, Support and Services and Office of the Town Marshal.  Included in these divisions are: Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, K-9 Unit, SRO, Criminal Investigation, Communications, Records, Animal Control, Professional Standards, Community Resources and Volunteers in Police Services.

Residency Policy:

 SECTION 3-2-4 TOWN MARSHAL (2013-A392)

 A. Office Established. The office of the Town Marshal is hereby established. The Town Marshal shall be appointed by the Town Manager on the basis of ability, and shall hold office pursuant to Section 3-1-3.A of this code. Prior to January 2014, the Town Marshal shall be a resident of the Town, unless such requirement is waived by the Council. After January 2014, the Town Marshal is required to establish residency within the Town of Camp Verde Town limits or the 86322 Zip Code area within 120 days of the date of hire. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

 B. Powers and Duties. The Town Marshal is the administrative head of the police department of the Town under the direction and control of the Town Manager. He/she shall perform such duties as may be required of him by law and as the Town Manager may deem necessary.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, management, or a closely related field; AND ten years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience that demonstrates expertise in all facets of police administration, at least five full time years as a senior command level official in a law enforcement agency. Preferred Master’s degree with appropriate emphasis.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess State of Arizona Driver’s license.
  • Must obtain AzPOST certification
  • Must obtain AzPOST general instructor certification 



Peace Officer – Lateral or Recruit, FT with full benefits. Pay range is $18.60 – $23.45 DOE, Open until filled.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under limited supervision, and consistent with general orders, performs general duty and investigative police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work normally consists of routine patrol, preliminary investigations, and traffic control on assigned shifts. Incumbents may be assigned to work on special assignments, which necessitate specialized abilities and knowledge. Special assignments can be of short or long duration and are subject to reassignment or cancellation at the sole discretion of the Town Marshal, who may assign officers for cross training purposes or for reasons of departmental efficiency.
